Cambridge is where I was born and raised, where I went to school, and where our children went to school. I'm actively involved in our caring and compassionate community, attending, participating and volunteering at the many events and fundraisers like Go Gold Cambridge, Cambridge Food Bank, MS Society, Ride for Cancer and the Truck Ride for Special Olympics.
I went in to the field of transportation, driving trucks all across Canada and the USA and worked as a Driving Instructor. I went back to school to obtain my Fleet Management and Safety/Compliance certification and have spent a few decades working in the field of transportation.
Through life experiences, I've learned how important school is, and the value of getting the best education possible, at any age. Our youth are our future leaders and their success depend on what is taught.
As your elected School Trustee, I will be dedicated and committed, ensuring schools are a safe place and where children get the education they deserve.
WHY I'M RUNNING FOR SCHOOL TRUSTEE
I am running for Public School Trustee because I strongly believe all students equally—without favour—deserve the best and strongest education that we can provide. Teachers are a critical part of our children’s everyday lives—a very important part—but they are not the final authority in the lives of children, parents are.
I think our board is disconnected from the parents. We cannot ignore how the accumulated problems within a dysfunctional board affect our kids. We need to rebuild a healthy and transparent education system in which parents feel respected and included. We need to bring back balance.
I'm dedicated to representing the students' interests, promoting educational outcomes that benefit them, and protecting them from political or ideological agendas not appropriate to the classroom.
A GOOD EDUCATION IS ELEMENTARY
Our children are our future and it is up to us to teach them well. A good education is essential, contributing to personal success and mental well-being. All children will be well-prepared for their future by supporting a curriculum that is effective, enhances student learning, as well as providing real-life skills in financial literacy and money management.
As an alternative to college and university, trades provide essential services for which there will always be a need and why it is important to encourage trades as a solid career path. Trades offer students well-paying, meaningful careers and I will support, and promote opportunities that bring back skilled trade classes for middle school students
KEEPING STUDENTS SAFE
Enhancing school safety and creating positive school climates involve many factors. A member of the school community or even a resident of the local area can assist in identifying potential threats to a school and sharing that information with those who can mitigate those threats. School safety has a direct effect on academic performance. As your School Trustee I will help promote a safe environment at school, in the community, walking to and from school, and on school buses
